General Contractor
As a lifelong resident of western Washington, I have been working on home DIY projects since my teenage years shadowing my father as he remodeled our family home. At 25 years old I purchased my first home, a 1930’s two-story bungalow in north Seattle. A “down to the bare studs” major remodel of the kitchen and two bathrooms soon became part of the upgrades. After contracting an architect to help with the new floor plan, it was demo time! I started doing the majority of the work myself, framing, finish carpentry, drywall and paint. Dealing with the 50 year old lath and plaster walls really developed my drywall and patching skills. I replaced all the leaky galvanized plumbing with new copper pipe followed by replacing the knob-and-tube wiring, outlets and lighting. At the same time I built a complete woodworking shop in my basement starting with a commercial contractor table saw. I love having the right tools for the task at hand.
Many houses later and over 30 years experience in construction management and remodeling, I started Carkeek Construction LLC to provide services for clients in the Snohomish and North King counties.
